Discovering an industrial past
A former jewel in the crown of French metallurgy, the Park’s territory is home to a number of major production sites, from the rivets used in the Eiffel Tower to the piping used in the gardens of Versailles. From simple nails, local know-how has developed to the present day.
Not to be outdone, the region is also home to numerous slate mines, which date back to Celtic times and are still sporadically exploited. And what can we say about the timber industry, in an area covered mostly by forest.
